Three dimensional ultrasound (3D USG) has revolutionized the field of imaging with its ability to use multiple planes. There are many advantages in using this modality including more accurate diagnosis about fetal abnormalities particularly in displaying fetal malformations of the cranium and face, spine and extremities and body surface, improved comprehension of fetal anatomy by families, and improved maternal fetal bonding. 3D USG is a valuable adjunct to 2D USG in obstetric field. This article briefly reviews advanced applications of 3D USG in obstetrics.
