백내장은 렌즈 또는 캡슐의 투명도 저하로 인해 시력 저하를 일으키는 질환을 의미한다. 선천성 백 내장은 약 38%에서 원인불명이며 복합 전신적 질환, 선천성 감염, 유전 질환이 원인이 경우도 있다. 복합 기형이 동반된 경우도 적지 않다. 그래서 태아의 안구질환을 발견하였을 때는 즉시 산전 상담이 이루어져야 하고 정확한 진단을 위해 다발성 전신질환, 감염, 유전성 질환에 대한 검사를 시행하여야 한다. 이에 저자들은 임신 2분기에 초음파로 진단된 원인 불명의 선천성 백내장 1예를 보고하는 바이다.

Congenital cataract is a loss of transparency of the lens or capsule that causes visual impairment. Cataract is often associated with multiple malformations, and usually described as a part of a multisystem disorder, and at other times a result of infectious or hereditary conditions but some cases remain idiopathic. Counseling and diagnostic consideration for multisystem disorders, infections and hereditary condition should be performed promptly when fetal ophthalmic abnormalities observed. Here, we report a case of congenital cataract diagnosed during second trimester by ultrasonography.
