Recently the detection of thyroid nodules has increased with the widespread use of
ultrasonography (US). Thyroid US has been regarded as the mainstay for
demonstrating and making the differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules as well as
for providing proper management. This article aims to review the standardized
terminology for thyroid US, the US findings of thyroid nodules and the strategy
for US-based management of thyroid nodules.
