목적: 최근 정밀초음파 시행이 꾸준히 증가하고 있는 반면, 검사에 대한 산모의 기대사항과 만족도 에 대한 국내 연구가 없어서 이에 대한 객관적인 평가를 하고자 하였다.
연구대상 및 방법: 2009년 1월 1일부터 2009년 12월 31일 사이에 경희대학교 병원을 방문한 총 168 명의 저위험군 단태 임신 산모들을 대상으로 정밀초음파 검사 전과 후에 설문지를 작성하여 시행 전 기대사항과 시행 후 만족도를 각각 평가하였다.
결과: 284명(50%)의 산모들의 검사 전 시행 동기가 “담당 선생님이 권하셔서” 또는 “원래 보는 거 라고 들은 것 같아서, 다른 산모들이 본다고 해서”라고 답하여 타인에 의한 영향이 자의에 의한 것과 동등한 것으로 나타났고, 130명(77%)의 산모들이 “정밀초음파가 어떤 검사인지 알고 있다”고 대답한 반면, “태아의 염색체 이상도 의심할 수 있다”는 것은 105명(67%)으로 모르는 경우가 더 많았다. 검사 후에 146명(87%)의 산모가 “충분한 정보를 얻었다”, 145명(86%)은 “태아가 건강할 것이라고 90-100% 신뢰한다”고 답했고, 133명(79%)의 산모가 “산전 초음파가 꼭 필요하다”고 했으며, 156명(93%)의 산모가 “다른 산모에게 권유하겠다/다음 임신에도 시행하겠다”고 하였다.
결론: 산모들은 태아의 건강상태 확인에 있어 정밀초음파의 역할에 대해 검사 전에 비교적 높은 기 대를 하는 반면 검사내용에 대해 일부 잘 모르는 부분도 있었다. 검사 후에 얻게 된 정보에 대한 만족 도와 태아 건강상태에 대한 신뢰도는 높은 수준을 보였고 이에 따라 산전 진찰의 일부로 꼭 필요하다 고 느끼고 있었다.

Objective: Level II ultrasonography use is increasing steadily, but the domestic research on maternal expectation and satisfaction for the test is absent, so objective evaluation is needed.
Methods: We included 168 uncomplicated singleton pregnancies that visited Kyung Hee University Hospital from January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. Two surveys were administered before and after level II ultrasonography with questionnaires evaluating patients’ expectations and satisfaction.
Results: Before the ultrasonography, 84 participants (50%) of the women answered that they underwent the test because "The doctor recommended", or "I heard it is a routine test, or other mothers also underwent it,", therefore performance of level II ultrasonography was influenced equally by oneself and others. One hundred thirty participants (77%) of the women answered, "I know what level II ultrasonography is.", but 105 participants (67%) did not know that "Fetal chromosomal abnormalities could be suspected by the examination." After the ultrasonography, 146 participants (87%) answered "I got enough information," 145 participants (86%) answered "I am 90 to 100 percent confident that my baby will be healthy.", 133 participants (79%) answered "Level II ultrasonography is necessary.", and 156 participants (93%) said "I will recommend this test to other pregnant women, or I will do the test in the next pregnancy."
Conclusion: Before the examination, participants have high expectations of the capability of level II ultrasonography to assess the baby's health. After the examination, they have great satisfaction about the information they obtained and confidence about baby's health status. Accordingly they thought level II ultrasonography necessary as a part of prenatal care.
